Discover a New Talent

I have always enjoyed teaching. As an owner of an art school in my community I had the opportunity to teach kids and adults the fun of making jewelry and exploring their creativity.

Before I started teaching I would have never considered myself a teacher. I really surprised myself when I discovered teaching was really a natural part of who I am.

What talents do you have that you are dismissing?

As artists and creative business owners you already share your talents with your customers, but what other things have you wished you could do or thought about doing, but decide you were to busy or did not have the skill required. These are the things you should be exploring. Don't let limited time or skill hold you back from exploring new talents.

Create a list of all the things you would like to do, even if they are not related to what you are doing right now. Then choose one of those items to explore this year.

With the start of the new year, it's the prefect time to add to your to-do list the steps necessary to incorporate a new project into your art and business.

Are you fully utilizing your talents?

  3. I've always wanted to try painting but have not got around to taking a class. I feel like since I can't draw my work would look really strange and embarrassing! Someday I will try. It looks like such a stress reliever.

    1. I always wanted to paint too Val. Trust me you don't need to know how to draw to lean painting techniques. Don't worry about what your work is going to look like, just take a class and enjoy the process :)

  4. I actually am trying to get back into something I used to do and love, but quit when I found Etsy and switched to handmade. Purchasing. Or being a buyer. I've always loved the thrill of the hunt, and the idea of building my own line of items, a mix of handmade and other gift friendly things... that didn't work on Etsy but I'm hoping to stop limiting myself to handmade this year, and get back into some of the fun stuff again.
