Inspiration Hour

I spend my day working online and making jewelry, and life has been crazy busy lately. Recently I realized I need to have some time in my day to recharge and fill my inspiration well.

That's why I scheduled an hour a day as my inspiration hour.

During this hour I do all the things I don't have time for these days, like reading blogs and books, looking through magazines, researching ideas, and surfing the internet.

It makes a difference if you give yourself permission to do things that you consider unimportant.

Try scheduling it on your calendar. Schedule it during those times of day when you need a little recharge. Doing something that is not required work is a great way to get motivated and finish up your work.

Having this hour during my day has made a difference in how I feel about my required work and how quickly I get it done.  I know that my inspiration hour is coming, so I work a little harder to get the things I need to get done finished quickly.

An hour may seem like a long time, but to get fully recharged an hour is the perfect amount of time to get the ideas flowing. If you find the hour challenging at first, do 15 minutes, and then keep adding 15 minutes each week until you reach an hour.

Add an inspiration hour to your calender and see how excited you are to work on you creative business everyday.

How do you recharge when you need inspiration?

  1. I sometimes go through hours of inspiration as opposed to days without. Maybe it really is best to be scheduled. Organization helps even when inspiration is concerned!

  2. This is a great idea!! I try and do it everyday, even if it's just for 15 minutes (if that's all I can squeeze in). I usually like to read a magazine or watch a few minutes of a decorating show on tv that I like. I know once kids are around and I need to make dinner and my hubby gets home, I won't get a chance to do them later in the evening.

  4. This is just a good idea on so many levels. I wish I had given myself permission to do this years ago when I didn't have time on my hands like I do now!

  5. That's such a great idea! Lately I've been doing something similar- stealing away time from my regular work day to take long workouts and get house projects going. It's really given me motivation and feel like I'm getting stuff done for me!

  7. Great idea!
Most days I take a break mid-afternoon and go through my private emails as well as check out blogs and Pinterest. I'm really trying to take one day off each week and not do anything work-related. I find this quite difficult!

  8. This is a great idea!
I try to do this when I drink my coffee in the mornings and in the afternoon. It gives me a chance to sit and regroup :)
