What Type of Procrastinator are You?

Is procrastination a problem for you?

Their are two types of personality types that are prone to procrastination:

Idealists - want to do everything perfectly or not at all

Enthusiasts - tend to take on too many things at once

I am definitely an enthusiast. I am big on working on several project at once.  I read a couple of books at the same time usually a chapter of each every night. I work on a few projects at the same time and call it multi tasking, but not always getting as much done as I would like.

Knowing this about myself has made me cut back on trying to work on several projects at once. I still need to do more, but it does help for planning my day.

Knowing which personality trait you are will make it easier to recognize whats holding you back from getting things done, and figuring out the steps you need to take to achieving your goals.

Are you a procrastinator? Which personality trait are you?

  1. Oh, I believe we are all procrastinators, or at least we are taught to believe so. There is no stricter time manager than the one we have in our heads, is there?

I am an enthusiast, like you. I am a perfectionist but I have outgrown this type by teaching myself to at least start a project. I learned that once I've started something it will sooner or later get finished and the way to its perfection is to develop it constantly.

But the enthusiast procrastinator still lives in me...

  2. I'm trying to find a middle ground, actually guilty of both traits at one time and another. You ought to see the projects started and not finished, that's also not thrifty.

  3. I am both! I take up too much than I can handle and then struggle under the pressure. another problem for me is that I have too many hobbies and my favorites change every now and then resulting in lotsa hibernating projects.. sigh. Will I ever grow up?!

  4. Haha, wow, I am definitely both! But I limit myself on projects too, and just make a decision, and realize that even if I make a mistake it may point me in the right decision!

  5. Hm, how about a combination of Idealist AND Enthusiast? Mostly Idealist, though. ;)

I used to be a big procrastinator, but thankfully I've changed. Actually, now I like to get chores done as soon as possible, so that I have time for myself afterwards!

  6. I'm a bit of both, but mostly idealist I guess. It's not really that it needs to be perfect, I just feel like I don't want to make anything until I have the right materials (which is usually a money issue). Either that or I can't decide on what format to do.
