I shared a couple of weeks ago that I am going to spend this year dedicated to building my jewelry business. I am working on getting more sales in my Etsy shop, and building my wholesale and show business.
I made a commitment to myself that I am going to spend my time and my energy to do something everyday that will generate income. So that means I may list new items in my Etsy shop, post in social media, email stores, contact blogs for features, or research show opportunities. My goal is to do something that will increase my visibility and sales opportunities.
Have you decided on an area of your business that you are going to work on this year? if so ask yourself this question:
How do I choose to spend my time and my energy to achieve my goal?
Knowing the answer to that question will make planning your day a whole lot easier. When I do my to-do list I always keep in mind what can I do to generate income that day.
I have found on the day's that I actually make an effort I get sales. On the day's I don't nothing is generated.
Make a plan. Decide how you want to spend your time and energy on you business.
Are you doing something every day for your creative business to achieve your goal?
I spend 50% of my time online marketing.
ReplyDeleteThis year I plan to expand my fabric shoppe, so I'm focusing on that primarily :)
I've made a few sales of my steampunk keys when I post them on Facebook, but other than that I haven't figured out what to do to increase sales. I just don't think I can compete with everyone that's on Etsy.
ReplyDeleteUntil last year, I had no concrete plans. I am still disorganized. But since Feb 1, 2014, I've noticed that my sales are picking up. I'm not very sure why, but the everyday listing of new products and sending out newsletters regularly is kinda keeping my business on the face.
ReplyDeleteMy shops aren't open anymore, but I am starting my interior design business and expanding my blog this year. I totally agree that making an effort everyday is important. I keep a to do list in my day planner and cross off tasks as I go.
ReplyDeleteEveryday effort is definitely a must, and it can keep you motivated too. It doesn't have to be something big, but as long as it's something. =0)
ReplyDeleteI noticed back in December it made a big difference when I was listing things, sales were better. Since then I haven't been listing much, and the lack of sales seem to show that. I need to get a good plan, and then stick to it! (that the hard part).
ReplyDeleteI wish you the best of luck growing your business this year! I found that being active in social media really brings in that traffic, hence more sales. That is one thing I plan on continuing to be consistent with this year too.
ReplyDeleteI've decided to stress less about social media and let it be something that I do for fun. Instead, I'm paying the pros for marketing and not worrying about it as much. It's hard to narrow down what works, but once you find it, it's worth the effort. This way, I have more time to do the things I love, and not worry about all the traffic I'm not getting because I'm not social media-ing... lol.
ReplyDeleteI too notice that the more positive energy I put into my business, the more results I see from it. Best of luck to you in your goals for this year Valerie! xoxo
