Need a Moment - Call a Friend

Vintage Retro Phone from FishBoneDeco on Etsy
I remember when you had to call people on the phone, and they had to be home to get the call. There was no call waiting, or answering machines, not to mention email, texting, IM'ing, or Skype.

I am really showing my age here, but with so much technology no one really talks on the phone anymore. My daughter spends all her time texting with her friends, the only time they actually talk is when they get together.

Today would be a great day to CALL a friend you have not talk to in a long time. Enjoy the sound of their voice, and catching up on life.

It's a great way to have a moment with yourself, and reconnect with a old friend.

When was the last time you had a long conversation on the phone with a friend?

  1. That is SO true! Sometimes I need to call my adult kids just to hear the sound of their voices. They think that is a little weird, but I always feel better when we can "really" talk.

  2. Good idea! I speak to my friends & relatives via Facebook and that is just not the way to do it, as convenient as it is. You can't laugh the way you can face to face. Thanks for the reminder. Now I will go call someone I haven't spoken to in a while.

  3. how funny, I just talked to my sister on the phone today. well, it was a cell phone, but still, we were both home before the crazies of our days began, and tho it was a short call, it was still great to hear her voice. we had been communicating via emails all week.
    good reminder.
    thanks!

  4. I used to have a phone growing out of my ear when I was in high school....it drove my parents insane b/c I would tie up the line for hours and it was my dad's plumbing business number as well as our home number. I'd hang up, finally, and the phone would ring off the hook w/ clients complaining they couldn't get through and meanwhile the leak in their bathroom had now covered the floors.... Flash forward to now and I HATE talking on the phone. Whenever my phone rings and it's not my guy, I groan, 'who the *#@*#($ is this? Don't they know I don't wanna talk??? Just text me or send me a FB message!'
