This time of year when all the windows are closed and the heat is on, the air can easily get stale.
I recently read a
blog post by my friend Melinda, about air freshener and candles on her blog
Inspiration Earth, that inspired today's DIY projects. This well researched blog post is full of information about why using commercial air fresher and candles are not good for you or your home. It's not only informative, she also shares some great ideas to naturally scent your home.
Today I found some easy DIY ideas to naturally scent your home.
Have you ever created your own scents for your home? What are your favorite scents?
I scent our home with 100% natural essential oils only. The homemade linen spray sounds great!
ReplyDeleteI usually buy simmering potpourri and use it it a special potpourri pot. I've never made my own scents. I'm very allergic to a lot of perfumey stuff, like candles. I get an instant headache. It's hard to find unscented stuff.
ReplyDeleteNot unless the scents are related to cooking! I didn't know burning non-natural candles could harm, but it makes total sense! I'll have to look into some of those articles- how neat!
ReplyDeleteI've never thought about making my own home scents before. Neat idea. Thanks for the resources.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the mention Valerie. :) I can't wait to look into some of the other options you mentioned, isn't the world full of great ideas?? :)
ReplyDeleteWonderful post and great links. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteFresh, natural fragrances from organic sources, such as fruits and spices are hard to beat. I've always love the aroma of sweet, tangy tangerine - for some reason it always reminds me of Christmas.
Also hard to beat is the delicious smell of apple and cinnamon - just like an apple pie baking in the oven. :D
