Planning

Sometimes writing blog posts are challenging for me.  Trying to work on this post was frustrating because I had not planned out what I was going to write.

I usually create a plan at the end of the week, so I can sit down on Sunday and crank out my posts for the week. I did not do that last week and I have been flying by the seat of my pants coming up with ideas all week.

I am the same way with my to do list.  I get more work done if I create a list at the end of the day, planning out what I need to get done for the next day.

When I create sterling silver jewelry I sketch and plan out every piece. Creating the hardware jewelry I never plan.  I sit down in front of all my supplies and just start pulling thing out.  I arrange and rearrange until I figure out something I like and then I create.

So, today I have this question:

Are you a planner?  Do you plan your business goals and your creative projects, or just do what you feel like doing and see what happens?

  1. I am a planner. I used to make long lists and scratch off the things as I got them done, but I never went down the list. Then I found that if I used the back of my small tear off calendar for my "to do" list for the day, I actually could get it all done. LOL

    Have a wonderful day and...

  2. I'm kind of half-and-half. When it comes to the computer I usually just sit down and do whatever it is I'm doing, no planning. Blogging, listing an item on Etsy, all of that is just written on the spur of the moment, though sometimes I get the ideas in advance.

When I'm writing a story or something, though, I usually plan it out to an extent. But there are usually parts not in the plan that sneak their way in!

  3. I'm totally a planner! I have a M-F schedule for the subject of each post, and photograph throughout the week, batch writing on Tuesdays. If something gets me off track I get so lost!

  4. I used to be an avid planner, and still am in some regards. However, for me, I've learned that if I move through my day doing just what speaks to me at the moment, I'm much more productive and happy. :) Believe it or not, even the chores get done that way, bathrooms included. ;) I love the idea of a planner, even bought one this year. And yet... it sits in my desk drawer, empty. I store it all in my head, with the help of post-its here and there! :)

  5. I love making lists and planning things (I have a board full of ideas for my blog), I just never get around to following through all the time. Part of it is because I work second shift, so I'm tired before and after I go to work. You can probably imagine how many unfinished projects I have laying around...

  6. Hi there, I always love your posts. They certainly make you think. As for my blog I usually blog about my latest creations and what ever hapens to be on my mind the day I post. As for planning my pieces, sometimes I plan in advance and sometimes I just let the beads speak to me. As far as promoting and stuff goes, its done on the fly.

  7. I almost always just feel what I'm going to do. This is usually works really well for me but can sometimes get me into trouble. I could do more planning that's for sure! Fortunately, I don't mind learning from my unplanned mistakes!
