If you work on paper, canvas, wood, or fabric, anything washable can be used with acrylic paint to add visual texture. Try stamping designs using found objects like bubble wrap, doilies, fibers, or even wrap a block of wood with string in different directions to create a cool stamp.
Junk from my junk drawer - I see possibilities |
Your home can become a great source of inspiration and a simple way to recharge your creative process. It can also save you money by using what you already have instead of purchasing lots of new items.
Found anything interesting in your house that you turned into art?
What a great post! In fact, I have turned a household item into a piece of art. I used an old ornate cabinet flouish that my boss was getting rid of to create an interesting pendant on a necklace. I also used a vintage button as the center piece to hide the hole where the knob would have originally been. I have posted on my blog about this item today!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I love using things I already have on hand!

this IS inspiring! I actually just raided my 15 year old daughter's jewelry box, full of stuff she has been collecting since she was little. She agreed to let go of a few of the things she didn't wear anymore so I could make Toekini's out of them.
ReplyDeletei do it all the time. sometimes its something as simple as rearranging my knickknacks in different groupings to see what they look like.
ReplyDeleteI used to have creations I called "Little Whimsies" in my shop, TheForestFaery.etsy.com. They were little matchboxes, or tiny bottles, with collections of random things glued in. Crayons, feathers, wire, buttons, tiny keys... I took them out of my shop eventually, though, and gave them as gifts for Christmas. ;D It's fun to use random household items!
