I don't really have the time to market both shops effectively, write my blog, and create new items. So one of my shops does not get many views, and I have been debating on how much longer I should keep it open.
What your opinion? Do you think it's worth it to have more then one shop?
I know the saying, don't put all your eggs in one basket, but I don't know if it is worth it to spend money on a site that is not generating any income.
I can only manage one shop, I don't know how people juggle so many? I feel like putting all of your energy into running one well is a great idea!
ReplyDeleteI have 3 online shops. One I promote from all day. The second shop gets semi-promoted and the third one...well nothing. I think it's not just that I don't promote it, but that there is not that much traffic to that site.
ReplyDeleteMy 3rd shop costs zero listing fees and zero commissions, so why not leave it there.
I am visiting your blog today from Maureen's blog thread on Etsy. I hope you'll stop by my blog today too.
Today's blog post
A tribute to my husband on the 10th anniversary of his death

I am so glad to hear that ther are other people in this boat. I have one online shop and another one I am working on that is more like an ecommerce. I find it hard to manage more than two at a time and I do find myself promoting one more than the other. Im checking back to read more comments on this.
ReplyDeleteI struggle with this too! my second shop has way less traffic, lower sales but the fees are so much lower and it has the potential to really become something as it's a way greater place to be as a seller - will keep them both for now, but....
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like almost everyone has more then one shop and is trying to juggle it all as well.
ReplyDeleteI am really considering closing the other shop because it has a monthly fee (which is fairly low) but I am not generating any income from that shop. So to me it seems like a waste of money. But do I want to put all my eggs into one basket?
I only have one shop as of now. My hope is that if I can get my one shop so that it pretty much runs itself, then I will start another shop.
ReplyDeleteAs for putting it all in one basket, if your other shop isn't worth it, just cut it, move on. If all else fails, I am sure you are a smart person and will be able to find something else. What is really the worst that can happen? You'll probably be happier not having to worry about two.
Thank VaLonn for sharing! Your right, it's time to let it go!
ReplyDeleteI guess that would depend on what you sell as in why did you start a second shop in the first place? If your products are related enough, or you like doing one more than the other, do close down.
ReplyDeleteI had a similar problem, and had to close down one and mesh all the stuff together in my etsy shop. Not idea, but in reality, who can keep up?
I am closing one of my shops but hesitate to put fabric items and jewelry together. Thinking about other avenues for jewelry.
ReplyDeletePromotion is such a strong factor. Given the chance with your attention, maybe that 2nd shop will grow. If it's your Zibbet shop you're displeased with, get on the forums and push. Great people. Your work is unique to Zibbet. I'm there and actually considering shutting my 2 etsy shops and just be there.
