It has been a crazy month of planning and preparing for the jewelry sale open house I hosted yesterday in my home.
I cleaned my house, moved my furniture, cooked fun desserts, and set up my house to look like a little boutique. People stopped by throughout the day and I made a little extra money for my business.
On Friday I hosted a special preview event for my good customers and a few friends. It turned out to be a really nice event and a lot of fun. Doing this preview event is something my customers appreciate and a way for me to thank them for their support throughout the years.
It has been a long week and I am so glad it is over.
Have you ever hosted a show of your artwork?
I am glad I did all that work, because today I have to pack everything up and get it ready for a show I am doing this Saturday.
This is the first show I have as I get ready for the holiday season. I have a show in October and three in November, so it's nice to know that all my show stuff is ready to go.
Do you have a busy show schedule this holiday season?
I've never done a show or a craft fair before (my business still in the baby stage) but I would love to one day :)
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I did this once when I moved into my new house. It was a combined house warming and jewelry party open house. I'd love to do it again!
ReplyDeleteSounds great - I have been thinking about how this could work for me too. I don't make jewelry but have other accessories and items that I think could work for an in-house show. Being that I just moved tho, I am still unpacking boxes and can't do a show like this. It is great that you found success.
ReplyDeleteI used to do home show where I went to other people's houses set up my displays and they would invite there friends. This was a lot more work setting up and taking down all within hours. So the last few years I only do them at my house and that is a lot eaiser. You just have to find what works for you, and it can be a great way to earn extra income.
ReplyDeleteI just do one large home show a year--but this is my hobby and not how I make my living. I don't even do craft shows because of the amount of work. I am a professional musician of 30 years, and doing the business work for that almost killed music for me. I don't want that to happen to refashioning jewelry, too!
ReplyDeleteValerie, The season is upon us! I just did a blog about "Marketing Close to Home - A Primer for the Craft Fair Season" that might be of interest to some of your followers who are just jumping into the craft fair arena. It's the 08/21/10 post at www.shelleymacdonalddesigns.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteThanks Shelly for sharing such a great post!
