It took me awhile to get into the habit of keeping a journal, but once I figured out what works best for me it became much easier. I use my datebook to keep track of things I need to do, things that happen that week, my personal thoughts, and plans for the future.
My version of a journal may be different from yours, but all that's important is that you write what down what's important to you.
Here are some basic reasons to keep a journal...
Self discovery
Opening up to new possibilities
Setting goals
Healing
Change
Living life
Do you keep a journal? What is your reason?
I don't keep a journal, but I need to start. Everyday I'm flooded with at least ten new ideas and I can't keep track of them all. I tend to make a lot of lists of things I need to do, or what I want to accomplish, but it just never works out that way! I like the idea of writing everything down in a date book, I think that actually might work for me.
ReplyDeleteMargo, It was very hard for me too. Once I started using my datebook it made a big difference to me. I also have a blank pad in there so I can keep sketches and ideas. It has really helped to keeping my ideas (drawen or written) handy. I take my book with me everywhere.
ReplyDeleteI used to be absolutely religous about keeping a daily journal. Over the past few years, I've fallen completely out of the habit. I think that's why I like blogging so much, because it sort of fills that void. I keep thinking I'll pick up a notebook and get back to it, but it hasn't happened yet.
ReplyDeleteI do keep a journal of private thoughts. I love looking back on what I wrote years ago... I like to write so that I'll remember stuff when I'm old and gray :)
ReplyDeleteI keep a journal, and have been for many many years. Its a great way to vent and rationalize and find solutions to your problems. But also its great for writing down where I want to go in life and setting goals.
ReplyDeleteIt was hard for me to keep a journal. I found I ranted over things to much and I did not like that negative energy.
ReplyDeleteNow, since I have gotten into designing jewelry and other DIY projects my journal is for my progress as an artist, what I like to achieve and positive notes.
Sometimes I do try to get out all the negative thoughts before I start my day by doing morning pages. It is a usefull tool that I learned about in the book, The Artist Way.
I buy cool looking journal books.....who wouldn't want to write something in a snazzy looking journal ;)
